Gerard,

That's an interesting perspective. Agreed that God's glory does not lay in Satan robbing, killing, and destroying us. Yet, it lays in the protection, and redemption from God...just as He redeemed Job, and the same way God redeemed us through Jesus--everything works out for His glory. God uses Satan's opposition of us as a way to show Himself strong for us. And I'd say that 'robbing, killing, and destroying' are forms of affliction (Ex. drug addiction, etc.).

What I understand about book of Job, it is the oldest book in the Bible. So if it is, it came after Adam and Eve, and before Abraham. God called Abraham the father of faith because he trusted God even to the point of almost sacrificing Isaac. More than 400 years after Abraham, Moses stood on Mount Sinai and got the Ten Commandments from God, and God established His first covenant with people. They were slaves to the Law and had to pay the punishment for sin and for turning their backs on God.
But over 1400 years later, Jesus came. He brought a New Covenant for all people. It is a better covenant than the first one (Heb. 8:6-7). There are plenty of verses that talk about God's goodness, His love for us, the good gifts He gives us (Jas. 1:17, Ps. 100:5, Lk. 18:9). Gods Word says that God is light and in Him there is no darkness at all.
A lot of people argue that God is the same yesterday, today and forever. And of course, that is true. The mistake they make is that they use that to say that God gives the devil permission to afflict us. Job did NOT have a covenant with God. We DO. And it is true, God never changes. With that in mind, consider these passages in 2 Tim 1:8-11:
"So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord, or ashamed of me his prisoner. But join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God, who has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. And of this gospel I was appointed a herald and an apostle and a teacher."
So God planned for Jesus to come to earth even before the beginning of time. When Jesus was on earth, He said that the devil is a thief (Jn 10:10) and a liar (Jn 8:44). A thief doesn't need permission to break into someone's house and steal. Neither does the devil have permission to afflict us since we are in a covenant with God. If the devil had permission, Jesus would not have called him a thief. So what pertained to Job, doesn't pertain to us. We are in a new and improved covenant, and the devil steals our health, our family members, our finances. It is not to God's glory. What army ever brought glory to their king or commander by suffering at the hands of an enemy army?
The devil's job is to steal, kill and destroy. He hates God but can't touch Him, and he hates man because we are made in God's image. And he can touch man, so he does. So any sickness, disease, tragedy, theft, death, destruction, etc. in our lives is meant to destroy us. But Jesus said all authority in heaven and earth are given to Him, so the devil has none. And Jesus gives us His authority to exercise while we are here on earth ("Go heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give. Mt 10:8, and another example in Mark 16:15-20). And if you think Mt 10:8 was only for the disciples that walked with Him, see Mt. 28:20 where He tells His disciples to teach everyone to do the same things He commanded them to do.

Hi Dave,

It is not up to me to help you achieve wisdom surpassing King Solomon; it is up to God. Yet, I can show you the way. Proverbs 2:1-7 says that we must seek wisdom (as a hid treasure). When we seek it for its value, and consider it valuable, then we will find it. Then, Proverbs 24:3-4 shows us that a house is built upon wisdom. So, if we seek it as a treasure, we will find it, and be able to build a house upon it. God still does manifest Himself today, and I can personally attest to it. I offer Spiritual Coaching, but not in the typical fashion. Many 'Spiritual Coaches' help you learn about religion and spirituality. I help you learn about GOD: His character, His will, His plan, His power, His directives, His Spirit, His wishes for you, and much more! If you want to go higher in God and need help, please let me know. Then, I can probably provide you with more details about my spiritual coaching and related services.

Let's go higher,

Dear Sir,

Please show me the way to achieve this so called wisdom surpassing that of King Solomon, I want all pastoral gifts, the gifts of the prophet and the power to conjure angels and demons and banishing them at will. I have accepted Christ 20 years ago but I have never felt his manifestation at all. Does Christ still manifest himself or he has forgot to come to earth after finding comfort in Heaven? Please let me know your thoughts on this. I can be contacted at guybelle01@gmail.com

Don, that's a good point. We do have to know when to pass the torch onto others when we become less productive/effective for the Kingdom. Honestly, we never know when that will be--only God does. He's the potter, and He knows His vessels' 'useful life'. Some He calls at 600, others He calls at 12 (Jesus) to begin their ministry. In either case, as long as we focus on Him, regardless of our age, we can rest assured that we will be effective/productive at our calling. Then, when we do it unto God, He will give us the strength, vigor, and power we need to get the job done. Thanks for your comment! Bless you. -David

There are some exceptional examples of leadership of men who performed under God's leadership in Scripture as you indicated. And yet, there is a balance in the total picture of work to be performed by servants of the Lord. Consider the following:
Numbers 8:24-26 (KJV)
24 This is it that belongeth unto the Levites: from twenty and five years old and upward they shall go in to wait upon the service of the tabernacle of the congregation:
25 And from the age of fifty years they shall cease waiting upon the service thereof, and shall serve no more:
26 But shall minister with their brethren in the tabernacle of the congregation, to keep the charge, and shall do no service. Thus shalt thou do unto the Levites touching their charge.

Twenty five years is indicated as the length of service to be rendered by the Levites in serving God in the tabernacle of meeting. It is a wonderful thing to enjoy health, strength and vitality in one's advanced years, but it is also wisdom to understand that some, perhaps many outlive their usefulness in pulpits and leadership positions after 25 years of service. The purpose of ministry never changes, but when orthodoxy will not be violated orthopraxy may be ameliorated to keep minisrty sharp, focused and continuing to bear fruit for the Lord!

My fear is that some will take "age is only a number" as a license to continue to carry on in the name of longevity when productivity has long since become a thing of the past.

Hi Debbie. Thanks for your comment and sharing this with Children's Bread. I hope you recover all, and your situation turns around for the better. You are undoubtedly under attack by Satan. But when the attacks increase, don't give up; keep pushing. There is something behind the door that Satan doesn't want you to have (a financial breakthrough, power, salvation for a loved one, position, greater influence over others, etc.). He sees is and he's trying to stop you from getting it, or at the very least slow you down. There is a more specific reason the attacks are increasing on your life though. It's as simple as this: you are in the process of taking over enemy-held territory! God's Kingdom is advancing on earth, and his saints are sent out to witness for Jesus, minister to the poor, and advance the Kingdom before Jesus returns to finally push Satan out of the earth. In laymen terms, your spiritual and physical assault on Satan's 'territory' (I use this term loosely) has begun--the adoption of the child, your positive influence on others, your book, etc. Satan is simply resisting your advance and defending his territory. He doesn't want you to have more spiritual influence, he doesn't want you to have more money, and he doesn't want you to affect others. So he's trying to stop what's in you from getting out into the world. I had a dream a few weeks ago regarding this profound revelation of the Kingdom of God advancing and coming against Satan's 'territory'. I am in the process of writing an ebook about the dream and its interpretation, especially as related to how the dream affects every person in the body of Christ. I hope to have it released within the next week or so. Stay tuned, because it will shed more light on (1) what you're going through, (2) what you can expect to go through, and (3) what others in the Body of Christ will go through or can expect to go through as the Kingdom of God advances on earth. I pray for your situation to change for the better, and I believe by #faith it will. God bless you. -David

My family has been under a spiritual attack which has lasted 4 years now. When the first blow came I felt like I was in a nightmare. I was so devastated. I lost my whole family within days. My husband turned his life over to God; a miracle in itself! But the enemy took my grandson and we battled for 2 years just to get him back. They did everything they could to keep Alex away. Alex biological father was satanistic. Through prayer, dreams, and pastoral as well aa church family support we concluded that God had plans for Alex and that was the purpose of this warfare. I wasn't about to give up. We held tight to God's hand. He has brought us together again under the same roof finally! Now we're being attacked financially. During the waiting period within the war I wrote a book. I don't think Satan liked this too much and he's not giving up. I began another book, and the financial attack has distracted me. We are still fighting the system to complete the adoption. With every step closer to the completion the attacks are intense. We now face foreclosure in the mix of fraud, and requirements of money to cover the adoption costs; all thrown at us at the same time and weird financial issues-money missing from the account, checks coming through double time, loss of hours, medical and collection bills pop up for services I never had. I know this is all warfare.
I just want to know when it'll end and we can move on.

I don’t think Satan liked this too much and he’s not giving up.
I just want to know when it’ll end and we can move on.

Hi, I commend you for your faith. It takes a lot more faith to believe that God is NOT real than it does to believe He IS real. I won't debate on the issue of whether He exists. I will just say it feels great to know God and have a relationship with Him. Thanks for your comment.
